The bestselling author will have a cameo during the second season of Syfy’s post-apocalyptic thriller Z Nation playing himself as a zombie.

Martin is undead while signing his own books (and even tries to eat one copy). The title of Zombie Martin’s book is a tease — “A Promise of Spring,” which plays off A Dream of Spring — the expected title of his eventual seventh (and presumably conclusive) novel in his epic A Song of Ice and Fire saga. Currently Martin is working on Book 6, The Winds of Winter. Declared Martin: “I just want to prove to my fans that even in the Zombie Apocalypse, the Song of Ice and Fire books will still come out!” Martin will appear in the eighth epsiode of this year’s Z Nation, Martin has been imprisoned by a character called the Collector, who captures celebrity zombies and keeps George chained to a desk for his own nefarious purposes. Martin previously had an appearence in Syfy’s Sharknado 3, plus featured in the 1980s CBS version of Beauty and the Beast, a show where he also worked as a writer. One program where Martin hasn’t yet had a cameo: HBO’s Game of Thrones (in the original unaired version of the pilot, however, Martin was a guest at Dany’s wedding).
George and the lovely Jo, I first met Jo at Titancon in 2012, although she was not undead back then

Z Nation at first glance may appear a very low rent version of The Walking Dead, but give it a look it's really a lot of fun, a lot less 'soap' and more what we want to see, Zombies getting killed with some good humour 🙂

I think he already finished Winds of Winter. His editors must be reviewing it … Of course, he has to work in a Dream of Spring but he needs to rest a little bit … Let him be in a good mood before he kills all my favorite characters.

It’d be great if he actually used part of The Winds of Winter for A Promise of Spring.
